Kidney Stone

Kidney stones are one of the most common urological problems affecting one in 10 people. They can develop in either one or both kidneys and can be found either in the kidneys or in the ureters, the tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder. They can be extremely painful and can lead to kidney infections or cause deterioration in kidney function if left untreated.

Many kidney stones are small enough to be passed in urine and they can be managed conservatively by treating the symptoms with medications usually painkillers. Larger stones require to be broken up or removed by surgery.

Dr Dias offers the following surgical procedures to treat kidney stones:

  • Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL)
  • Uretero-renoscopy and Laser fragmentation
  • Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) / Flexible ureterorenoscopy / Flexible pyeloscopy
  • mini – Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (mini-PCNL)
